The Best of an African Safari Experience

Being on an African safari has been a long-life dream for years and finally this time you want to make it happen. As you spend time planning and investing in the trip with mixed emotions, it’s exciting with a little bit of fear trying to avoid the hurdles of traveling.

“The only man I envy is the man who has not yet been to Africa for he has so much to look forward to.” Richard Mullin

Probably you have seen all the animals you expect to see in Africa in the zoo but I can tell you this with a hundred percent certainty, a safari feeling is quite different, the bush vibes cannot relate in any way with the zoo animals, just like the winter and summer they are not the same, in fact, it makes you hate zoo.

First of all, accept that you are not going into a zoo and animals are not on the exhibition or some sort of staged display to mimic the bush setting, just entering and driving through the park is an experience on its own. In the African Safari, the excitement grows, as you keep wondering what would be the first animal you will see. Would it be a pride of lions targeting a buffalo bull or an elegantly poised giraffe that stood graciously browsing at the leaves of yellow bark acacia tree ready for a photo shoot!

From this point onwards as you make your way around the park to see more and more fantastic animals including hundreds of buffalos, zebras, gazelles, monkeys, hyenas, elephants, and many more. You get to see the Big 5 (lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffaloes), the most appreciated animals so close to their natural habitats, indeed this will quench your thirst for adventure and exploration.

As an expert in this field I can tell you this African safari is not restricted only to the Big 5, it stretches itself to a natural environment and the natural behavior of animals can mainly be observed when you encounter them. Seeing thousands of animals (mainly wildebeests and zebra) stampeding to cross Mara River. The great migration is a matter of death and survival (survival for the fittest) to bring ecological balance, it’s an epic scene you will never forget.

The best thing about African safari is you never run out of options on what to do next there are a lot of things to spice up the overall experience. Dare to take an opportunity of walking safari, which I think is worth it. It’s definitely something totally different as you feel more like being a part of nature than you would do sitting in a car. Or maybe a balloon safari and float slowly in a hot air balloon over the endless plain of Serengeti observing the beautiful scenery and animals’ movement from the top.

Immerse in every encounter and enjoy an endless supply of what nature has to offer, you can’t get enough, keep your eyes wide open and live the moment, the landscape, sunrise, and sunset in the savannah grasslands, everything has its own rewarding experience. Be patient, travel slowly, and experience and feel the place. Bush vibes, rest camps, tales, the open jeep, plenty of animals, and bird sighting, this is what defines the best African safari experience.

“Africa – You can see a sunset and believe you have witnessed the Hand of God. You watch the slope lope of a lioness and forget to breathe. You marvel at the tripod of a giraffe bent to water. In African Safari, there are iridescent blues on the wings of birds that you do not see anywhere else in nature. In Africa, in midday heart, you can see blisters in the atmosphere. When you are in Africa, you feel primordial, rocked in the cradle of the world.”

Jodi Picoult (American author)
